What is SEO?
SEO which is short for Search Engine Optimisation is simply the idea of ranking your website on google. The better your SEO is the more likely you are to rank in the first page. SEO is so important in the modern world because if your site doesn’t rank high on google it is likely not being seen by the right people. Whilst SEO takes some time to build up, once it is built it will take your website to the next level and generate positive exposure with lower costs than paid advertising.
There are two types of SEO, On page and off page which are both integral to the succession of your SEO strategy. On page SEO covers a number of disciplines, but it basically encompasses everything on your website. This can be as simple as your page headers and content all the way through to backend components like page structures and correct semantics. One of the most important parts to on page SEO is ensuring your content is worded in a way that is interesting and that will have keywords relevant to your target market search and that you want to rank for.
On the other hand off page SEO is about increasing your brand reputation on google in particularly by backlinks. They key is to have as many backlinks as possible, however they must be reputable links as ones that are not may hurt your sites ranking rather than improving it. Backlinks can come in many forms but the most prominent is being linked by another site. For example if a local news company wrote about your company for a new project coming up this could be a relevant backlink that will improve your SEO ranking.
So you have heard about what SEO is but what are the benefits. Clearly ranking higher means more people will see your site but most importantly ranking for the right keywords will mean your target market will be more likely to see your site and what your offer. SEO also increases your credibility as a brand making your brand more trustworthy in the eyes of the consumer. SEO also reduces marketing costs long term and drives your paid campaigns more as well.
All in all SEO is an integral part to your business and in the modern era SEO is required more than ever to increase your business trust ranks and overall drive more leads to your team.
